Swedish Mauser

Come, friends, rejoice with me, for I have met with success. As I mentioned yesterday, a shopping trip seemed to be the best way to burn off some of the free time I had accumulated. Well, for some reason, the first place, and incidentally, the only place, I decided to check out was The Gun Shop. No, really, that's the name of the place, The Gun Shop, a little hole in the wall joint out in Ballston, Polk County, Oregon. Anyway, I had some fun looking around, thought very seriously about getting a used Ruger SP101 in .357, after all, it was very reasonably priced and in great condition.
Then I found a trio of old guns gathering dust at the very back of the shop. The first two were semi-auto shotguns, and the third seemed to be some type of straight-bolt Mauser. After a close inspection, and reading the attached sale tag, I discovered it to be a Swedish Mauser, model 96, in 6.5x55 Swede. The stamp on the receiver indicated that it was a Carl Gustav, manufactured in 1900. Receiver serial # was 79523, bolt #523, bolt handle #523, butt plate #523, magazine floorplate #129. Barrel is the long 29-incher with threading for blank firing attachment. It has the old "ladder" style rear sight, numbers starting at 300 and go up to 600, then it flips up and the numbers start at 700 and go to 2000.

Bore is in excellent condition, very clear rifling. Stock is fully intact, with minor dents and stains. Minor wear and discoloration of metal parts, and everything functions very well. As soon as my ammo arrives, I'll be prompt with a range report. Oh, I almost forgot to mention. The price for this fantastic specimen of Swede Mausers?
$175 + cop check. I almost felt bad as I hauled it out to the car. Almost.
